Paul Simbler is Co-Director and one-third of the driving force behind hob salons, the UK’s 2006 Gold Star Salon Group of the Year.
His hairdressing career started in 1975 at Robert Fielding in London, giving Paul a solid grounding in the industry. Working his way up through the ranks at an early age, Paul came together with lifelong friend Clive Collins to start Hair On Broadway, now known as hob salons.
The company was founded in 1983 and fulfilled a lifelong dream of having his own hairdressing salon. Akin Konizi joined as a partner a couple of years later and 24 years on, hob salons continues to grow from strength to strength.
Now with continuous growth through company-owned and franchise salons, Paul believes the company’s success has come from building strong foundations and from setting clear procedures in place to ensure the hob culture runs throughout from top level management through to the assistants working on the salon floor.
Paul believes their success lies in the three Directors each bringing their different ideas to the table and using each other’s strengths to grow the business. This is evident in the recognition they have received from the industry, winning numerous awards as Directors including:
